The first official MTFL rankings now released!

Earlier this month MTFL announced that official rankings would be instituted in conjunction with MTFL 10 – which takes place in Gothenburg on Sunday December 10th – and now the first batch has arrived!

These rankings have been compiled by the MTFL team as well as though consultations with experts in the field. The rankings are based on MTFL performances and records, outside accomplishments and titles as well as competitive activity.

A combination of these aspects were all considered in compiling the rankings – which could very well be updated as MTFL 10 transpires.

Lightweight

With the lone MTFL loss coming via a close decision to world-class ONE fighter Jacob Smith, Nicholas Bryant currently reigns over the -60kg lightweight division. His next upcoming bout is against number two-ranked Sam Ghoroghi – who could steal the first spot with a win.

Welterweight

With two big wins in MTFL – including the epic blood bath against Nasim Kazem – as well as a slew of impressive national and international titles Linus Bylander currently holds the number one spot at welterweight. Hot on his heels we find the ultra exciting Freddy Castro Gonzalez, who holds two wins over Kazem as well as a victory over Robin Sundlöf.

The welterweight division is quite intertwined, with many of the top fighters and contenders having faced each other either in or putside MTFL. This is a division where much can change at the upcoming MTFL 10.

Middleweight

The middlweight division is incredibly stacked, with current ONE fighter Youssef Assouik holding the number one spot. Stockholm’s Jonathan Larsson is not far behind, holding four impressive wins in MTFL.

Expect big things for the MTFL middleweight division in 2025, as rankings will undoubtedly change.

There are points of criteria that must be fullfilled in order to land in the divisional rankings.

1: The rankings will be applied for pro, not A class amateur divisions
2: Fighters must have competed a minimum of two times in MTFL to be considered in the rankings (at least one of those bouts must have been in a pro bout)
3: The fighter must have competed in MTFL within two years to not be excluded for inactivity

It is, however, enough to have had one pro fight in MTFL to be considered a contender to the top rankings.

This rankings page will be continuously updated as more divisions are added.
