Muay Thai for Life returned to the Rondo theatre in the heart of Gothenburg for the promotions tenth event and as usual a bevy of excitement and unforgettable moments was on display.
The vacant MTFL welterweight title was on the line in the main event as Swedish champ and heavily-credentialled Linus Bylander took on Colombian powerhouse Nico Sanabria – fresh off of a huge win over rising star Amir El-Dakkak at MTFL 8 last spring.
While Sanabria posed many threats, Bylander entered the bout with a masterful gameplan, cutting the distance and pushing the pace.
After five full rounds Bylander emerged as the victor via a clear-cut unanimous decision, cementing his spot atop the Nordic rankings.
Bylanders team mate Sixten Larsson took on former sparring partner Marcus Sundin Liljedorff in the co-main event. The fighters were 1-1 heading into the third and deciding bout. Larsson, who was heading into the bout with two straight losses in MTFL, looked sensational. With crisp combinations and solid defense Larsson managed to keep the advantage on his side before checking a kick that fractured Liljedorffs leg, ending the fight via TKO.
The original co-main event between Nicholas Bryant and Sam Ghoroghi was sadly scrapped due to illness, with both fighters eventually being replaced by Sam Wingqvist and Max Elo. In a tactical but highly entertaining bout Wingqvist captured the victory, setting the stage for big things to come.
In other bouts Dane Younes Sadi looked spectacular against Hungarian Mark Hegedus, Lisa Melin returned to the win column in style against Lina Östergren and on the undercard Viktor Schiller and Aleksander Rrethi put on a brawl for the ages, throughout the coarse of five violent rounds.
